Relaxing getaway workshop

Panthera Photo Safaris workshops are designed to get photographers into the best areas in order to get great photographs. Here is where you take your wildlife photography from ‘good’ to ‘great’. By learning the tips, techniques and methods of taking great wildlife images with professional photographers, you will gain great insight and knowledge while improving your wildlife photography.

This workshop is specifically designed to offer the most affordable way to experience a photo safari experience of a lifetime in one of the most productive pieces of wildlife real estate in Africa. This safari is limited to 6 guests only. There will be one Panthera Photo Safaris photo guide with you on the workshop. This equates to two photographers per row on a vehicle, which is the ultimate way to run a photographic safari- guaranteeing you space and flexibility to make your images.

With the addition of the newly built eye-level hide, this is a fantastic lodge to get a mixture of images from both the comfort of a hide and the awe of a game drive.

The Kruger National Park, encompasses over 19,485km2 of land. For every night you stay at one of the lodges in the Kruger, you contribute to the conservation of the wildlife and to the support and development of the surrounding local communities.

ITINERARY

This safari is offered as both a three night or four night option. The three night itinerary is the same as mentioned above, minus day 4.

KAMBAKU RIVER LODGE, MALELANE, SOUTH AFRICA.

You will arrive at Kambaku River Lodge between 11am and 1pm.

Kambaku River Lodge is an approximate 3.5-4-hour drive from Johannesburg.

You will be met by a member of the Kambaku team upon arrival.

The lodge is a beautifully appointed 5 star venue, right on the banks of the Crocodile River. The low game viewing fence ensures both safety and great viewing of the wildlife on the river.

After checking in your belongings and getting acquainted with the camp, Lance will meet you and give you a quick briefing before the first afternoon hide session.

At 3.30pm we will head into the hide for the first time, making the most of the afternoon offerings. We expect to photograph a variety of birds and possibly some mammals as well.

After the hide session we will return to our rooms for dinner, which will be a shared event between the workshop clients.  This is a great place for us to recap on the afternoons images, discuss photography topics and talk about the plans for the future game drives.

Day two starts of early, with a trip into the Kruger National Park.

We will meet with our guide, Elvis, at the camp and head to the park, getting in 15 minutes before the other safari goers.

We will spend the morning photographing anything we find along the way, making sure we try new and different techniques when appropriate.

After the morning session (approximately 4 hours) we will return to the lodge for a dip in the pool, some relaxation time and a light lunch. This is also a great time to download your images and prepare for the afternoon drive.

We will then return to the park for the pm drive. Again approximately 3.5 hours, searching for Kruger's amazing wildlife and photographing different subjects.

After the pm drive we will once again return to camp where we will enjoy a well deserved dinner before heading in for the night in preparation for day 3.

Day three starts off the same as day 2, with an early morning drive into the Kruger National Park.

After the drive we will then return to the lodge for a light lunch and a rest before the afternoon hide session.

Dinner will be served as a group once again. This afternoon is also a great time to discuss  both editing and shooting techniques with Lance if needed.

Day four is a reversal of day three, making use of an early morning hide session to get the different lighting conditions. After a lunch break and a short rest we then head off on drive .

Day five is check out day, however we make use of the late breakfast time and will dedicate the early part of the morning to one last hide photography session within the camp.

Breakfast will be followed by a check out time of 10.30am.

*N.B. depending on the month, day 2 to 4 may be in a different order.
